Attack

The dog runs straight towards another dog, head held slightly lowered and facing straight toward its opponent; its legs may be slightly flexed at the elbows and stifles. This movement often ends with a leap towards the dog's opponent.

In this interaction between two females, a young Czech Wolf Dog exhibits obnoxious submission and testing towards an adult of the same breed. The younger dog stops in a lateral stance in front of the adult, exhibiting signals indicating passive submission and calming signals. The adult dog reacts with intolerance, exhibiting an offensive facial display, and then launches an attack, exhibiting first an open mouth display (gape) as she chases the younger dog, then an inhibited bite when the younger dog drops to the ground and displays cut-off signals. The adult dog stops and sniffs the younger dog, who remains motionless on the ground.

This video footage was taken during a behavioural evaluation. The male Pit Bull Terrier remains in a sit while the evaluator plays with a piece of braided rope in front of him. The woman drops the toy on the ground and moves to the other side of the test area. The dog stares at her with a hard look, glances at the toy, then gets up and follows her, flicking his tongue. The pit bull looks her in the eyes, lowers his ears, flicks his tongue, then hurtles against her with his forelegs, in an attack: he exhibits the intention to bite her arm, an inhibited bite to the chest, and the intention to bite her hand.
