Turning (orienting) the head (eyes, ears and nose) or the entire body toward something.

The female Husky mix has oriented towards another dog.
The young female Border Collie has oriented towards an unfamiliar dog and is demonstrating alarm. She is standing tall in a back-off posture, and is about to bark.

The mixed breed male orients toward an unfamiliar male, then follows his owner and licks his nose. When his owner stops and orients toward the unfamiliar dog, the mixed breed orients toward it once again, walking slowly with tail arched and head held horizontal to his body. He then observes the approach of the male German Shepherd, following its movements with his head, but standing still.
