The male German Shepherd cross marks along the fence with urine, then displays a dominant approach toward the young female Labrador Retriever who is standing still in a frontal stance. As the male continues to advance, the female turns her head, remaining in a frontal stance and backing away a few steps, then raises her head. The male orients toward her shoulder and displaces the female, then begins anus-genital olfactory exploration. The female licks her nose and re-orients in a frontal stance, and sniffs the male's muzzle as if to greet him. The male maintains a frontal stance while standing tall; when the female moves into T2 position, he displaces her. The female reacts by backing away and re-orienting in a frontal stance, the male hugs her and displaces her, the female responds with an agonistic pucker and by swerving backwards. The male once again displaces her, then moves off at a gallop, chased by the female. The female displays a leap forward with forelegs wide open, and the male stops in a lateral stance, then advances toward the female in T2 position. The male crosses his front legs as he approaches the female, displaces her, then nears the fence to mark with urine.
