Shoulder display
From a lateral stance, the dog takes a step forward with a stiff lifted paw, displaying its shoulder.

The young male Tibetan Mastiff assumes position T2 with respect to the male Golden Retriever, displaying its shoulder. The Golden Retriever pulls back his head and shifts his weight backwards.

In this interaction between two males, the German Shepherd exhibits a lateral stance and shoulder display towards the Belgian Malinois puppy, who moves away. A band of lighter coloured hair can be clearly seen on the Shepherd's shoulder.

The Irish Terrier bitch displays a running approach towards the male Pit Bull cross. The male remains still, in a frontal stance, standing tall, when the bitch stops and displays a dominant approach. The male stops, standing tall, and displays his shoulder, tail raised and wagging. When the male attempts to approach from the rear, the bitch crouches, backs away and re-orients into a frontal stance. The male turns into a lateral stance, with shoulder display, and moves towards the fence; when the bitch shakes off, the male moves once again into a lateral stance with shoulder display. The bitch approaches the male, and the two dogs re-orient frontally; the male moves away at a trot with forelegs held high, and the bitch follows him. The male marks with urine and stops in a lateral stance with shoulder display, and the bitch backs away. The male pit bull cross assumes position T2, licking his nose, and approaches the bitch, displacing her. The bitch stops in a bow, in frontal position, and the two dogs both show a bow, swerving away laterally; the male then moves away, followed by the bitch.

In this interaction between two females, the Setter x Italian Spinone cross approaches the Border Collie. The cross sniffs the Border Collie and then displays her shoulder, moving a front leg forward, and then displaces the Border Collie, who backs away.
