Tongue flicking

During an agonistic interaction, a dog flicks its tongue forward between its teeth. Only the tip of the tongue may be visible, or more of it.
(Capra, 2010)

In this interaction between two females, the Shepherd cross exhibits an agonistic pucker and flicks her tongue toward the Airedale puppy.

The female Czech Wolf Dog first moves toward the male Malamute cross, then reacts to his approach with an agonistic pucker, ears pinned back and tongue flicking. The male also exhibits an agonistic pucker and flicks his tongue, ears pricked forward.

The male German Shepherd cross walks toward the water bowl and begins to drink. When the female Airedale puppy moves nearer, the Shepherd turns his head and then stares, wrinkles his nose, bares his teeth and flicks his tongue. The puppy stops near him and, when he lowers his head, turns her head and looks at him, while the Shepherd exhibits an agonistic pucker and flicks his tongue. The German Shepherd moves closer with head lowered, and the male and the puppy move away from each other.
