Howl-barking

A continuous barking that at times resembles howling; the commissures are pushed forward, while the profile along the back is often that of rearing (head up, hind legs lowered).

This female German Shepherd mix is exhibiting ears back, paw raised and alert barking towards a stranger. When the person approaches, the bitch exhibits howl-barking, rears up, and finally returns to her owner's side.

This mixed breed is exhibiting fear behaviours, with tail lowered and ears back, running with a hunched back and displaying hackles raised. The dog is showing alarm, sniffing the air and barking, then approaching and sniffing at a toy on the ground. The dog shows alarm towards the strangers outside the fenced area, raises his tail and howl-barks, approaching the fence, then moves back toward the toy.
